Biography
MARLON. At 18, Marlon became Junior Composer in Residence for the Residence Orchestra. A few years later he won the first prize in the prestiguous Michele Pittaluga guitar competition.
At the occassion of her 25-year reign, he played live on television for HM Queen Beatrix. He graduated
from the Royal Conservatory with the exceptional mark “10 with disctinction”.
CONCERTS.
Marlon plays solo and with others around the world in festivals, concert halls, theaters
and at important occassions. In the last years he played concerts in 18 countries, including
the United States, Italy, Russia and China. Go to the concerts page.
TRIO.
Together with percussionist Yuchi Cordoba and double bass player Sven Schuster he
created a dynamic trio which mixes Antillean folklore with jazz. The trio brings original
and fresh compositions to the audience.

ROYAL CONSERVATOIRE TEACHING.
From age 22, Marlon taught for 3 years in the preparatory class of the
Royal Conservatory of The Hague, until he went to study with Professor Joaquin Clerch in Germany.
MUSIC COACHING.
Many students take music lessons with Marlon, in order to be accepted to conservatories
and to prepare for competitions. And with success: his students entered conservatories and won competitions.

AWARDS.
Marlon won prizes in more than 20 competitions in 6 countries, including First Prizes in the prestiguous Michele
Pittaluga Guitar Competition, the Zwolle International Guitar Festival and the Princess Christina Composition Competition.
CURRENT STUDIES.
Marlon currently studies with Cuban guitarist/composer prof. Joaquin Clerch
at the Robert Schumann Hochschule in Düsseldorf, Baroque music with violinist prof. Anton Steck
and music theatre classes with multimedia artist Jorge Isaac with grants of the VSB fund, Prins Bernhard
Fund and the Dutch Fund for Staged Arts.
EDUCATION.
Master degree in Guitar (mark: "10 with distinction"), studies with Zoran Dukic and Enno Voorhorst at the Royal Conservatoire,
The Netherlands. Bachelor Degree in Composition, studies with Roderik de Man and Martijn Padding at
the Royal Conservatoire, The Netherlands. Composition classes with: Steve Mackey, Steve Reich
and Louis Andriessen.
